-Can you demonstrate how to properly “hide” the chin
in a jab, cross and hook?

-     Where are the elbows and why?

     -      At least 5 ways to add power in the jab. Which is the
most important

     -      Do you move laterally or straight in when doing the
double jab and why?

     -      How do the shoulders rotate (twist)?    And 2 reasons
why.

-     Can you perform the “looping” cross?  Where is your
head and why?

-Can you perform the “overhead” cross? Where is
your head and why?

-Why is this punch so effective? 4 reasons. Which is the most important?

-What are the major differences between the looping and the overhead cross?

-Which one is “offensive”, which one is “defensive” and which one can be both?

-Lead hook. Demonstrate the arm position as it makes contact.


Green Belt 2nd class
What you should know!

-Why “role over” your fist as you make contact. At least 2 reasons.

-Advantages of the basic stance. At least 4 reasons.

     -     Disadvantages of the basic stance. At least 2.

-Why are the knees slightly bent?

-Advantages of the double jab and why “step in”?  At least 4 reasons.

-Explain the “step in jab” or “stick and move”. Name at least 3 reasons.

-Why is the cross more powerful then the jab? At least 3 reasons.

-Is the “looping cross” an offence or defense move?

-Is the “overhead cross” an offence or defense move?

-Where and why is your head when performing an offense lead hook?

-Where and why is your head when performing a defensive lead hook?

-Where is the power coming from when performing a 3b? At least 2 completely different answers.

                                           What you should know!

“Double” Lead Hook 3b&3h: In which direction do you lean when initiating the 2nd hook?  Why?

Uppercut: Which heal comes off the ground?   Do shoulders “rotate”?  

Power Uppercut: What 2 things can we do to dramatically increase the power?      

Uppercut (4b) or “Shovel Hook”:  Where is it thrown?    When would you throw this one?                                                   

Front Kick: Do we use the “ball” or “heel”. Why? What is the key difference when used defensively or offensively?    

Lead Front “Thrust” Kick: Where does the “thrust” come from? (2)   Where is it usually thrown?

Rear Front Kick:   Name 3 advantages?                                                                      

“Defensive” Lead Side Kick: Is this kick used in a “basic” fighting stance? Why? -- Preferably used against __________________________.  Is the “pull back and kick done all in one motion?   Name at least 3 benefits?                            

“Double” Lead Side Kick:  1st kick usually used for _______________, 2nd used for ____________?
                                                  If skilled… 1st to body, 2nd to ___________?     Why is this effective?                                                                                 

“Bruce Lee” Side Kick: Where does the back foot land as the lead foot hits target?

“Power” Side Kick:  Name 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages?                                                               

“Rear” Side Kick: 4 reasons you would use this? Any disadvantages? From which fighting stance would you throw

Lead Roundhouse:   What part of “leg” makes contact?  Why?  Where does the power come from?

“Double” Lead Round:Why throw this? What is upper body doing during the combo?    Why?

                                          Does the foot touch the ground in between kicks?   Why?     
                                          If skilled, where are the targets?  Why?

Lead “Shin” Roundhouse:Can we turn this into a “thrust” kick?

Rear Roundhouse: Name 3 reasons you would use this?                       

Switch-Step Roundhouse: 3 options to control distance (important)  2 ways to increase power (important)                                                                                  
                                               In which direction do the shoulders move?  Should we add a fake?... why?

Spin. Back Kick: From which stance is this best used? Why? On contact, where are the toes pointing?
                               Which kick is more powerful then this one?    Where is your head at moment of impact?
                               How would you throw it if you wanted to gain the most distance?
                               Where do you plant your lead foot? Name 2 differences in throwing it within “punching range”  
     
Jump Spinning Back Kick:   Why throw this one?

  What you should know!

-Which specific technique can you throw to purposely loose distance from your opponent?


-Which techniques are the “fastest” and why?


-Explain “proper breathing” and name at least 3 benefits.   


-Perform the “catch”. Which hand is used and why?   


-Perform “parrying”. Which hand is used and why?


-Also, regarding parrying, which part of the hand/arm is used against a jab, cross and front kick?  


-Perform “ducking”. How low? Who would and wouldn’t use this?


-Perform “slipping”. Which side is this done? Do you bend at the knees or waist? Do the shoulders rotate? 
-Regarding “slipping”… what are the pro’s and con’s of slipping on the outside and inside?


-Slowly perform a “bob and weave” against a head hook.
                                                In which direction do you move?    
                                                Do you bend at the knees or waist?
                                                Do the shoulders rotate?
                                                What is the perfect follow up technique and why?

-Explain the “layback” (pull back)
                                                      What is a perfect follow up technique?
                                                      Name 2 kicks that could be thrown at the exact same time as the pull back.


-Perform “covering” while under attack. Name at least 3 critical points.      
 

-Can “covering” be done in both a defensive and offensive strategy? Explain.


-Is “covering” used against punches or kicks?


-Can “covering” be purposely used as a set up? Explain.


-Perform a “full body cover”. When would this be used?
